PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana 2023: The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) is a government of India initiative that aims to provide income support of ₹6,000 per year to all landholding farmers’ families across the country, holding cultivable land up to 2 hectares. The scheme was announced by Finance Minister Piyush Goyal in the interim Union Budget 2019-20 on 1 February 2019. It was officially launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 1 December 2018 at Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh.

As of 15 February 2023, over 10.07 crore farmers have already been registered under the scheme. The government has transferred over ₹1.57 lakh crore to the bank accounts of farmers under the scheme.

The PM-KISAN scheme is a significant step towards doubling farmers’ income by 2022. It will provide much-needed financial assistance to farmers and help them to improve their agricultural productivity. The scheme is also expected to boost rural demand and stimulate the economy.
